About Shivaji College

The Shivaji College was established in 1998 in Hingoli. It is run by Shri Shivaji Shikshan Prasarak Mandal, Hingoli, Dist. Hingoli. The college is affiliated to Swami Ramanand Teerth Marathwada University, Nanded and accredited with B Grade by NAAC. The affiliating university has been playing the vital role in the curriculum design and the enhancement of the affiliated colleges as per the UGC norms. The college has well established IQAC cell. Shivaji College is a grant in aid co educating institute with Arts and Commerce faculty. In its 22 years of establishment the college has played vital role in the educational upliftment of the entire district which is already declared as underdeveloped by UGC. With all of its faculty and facilities the college is trying to equip its end product to not only becomes better civilians but also skillful people. The campus of Shivaji College provides healthy environment for all round development of the students. The college encourages its students to meet the complex challenges of emerging modern society and adapt to the upcoming changes.

The Internal Quality Assurance Cell in the college has been committed to the overall student development. Government of Maharashtra has recognized our efforts in gender awareness by bestowing its Jagar Janiwancha Award. To encourage self-learning and to satisfy their thirst for the knowledge the library has a collection of about 11,000 books, a host of journals, e-journals, magazines and a book bank section which lends text books to needy students.

The college has single granted faculty i.e. Faculty of Arts with 12 different departments. In the academic year 2020-2021 the new faculty i.e. Faculty of Commerce and B.Voc courses (Retail Operations & Banking Finance Services and Insurance) are started. The academic program and all the academic activities of the Institute are supported by a strong contingent of about 18 well qualified and experienced faculty members. Out of whom 03 are female. Sixteen (16) faculties are Ph. D holders however 02 are registered for Ph.D. 05 have been completed SET/NET and 14 are M. Phil. holders. There are 8 non teaching staff members in the college.

The college promotes organization of seminars, workshops, conferences, and co-curricular activities. A number of prizes are awarded to the meritorious students every year and the financial aids are also provided to the needy students at the time of admission. The Career Counseling Cell and Professional Guidance Committee arrange the programs for getting the knowledge about the suitable employment opportunities to the graduating students.

The college provides ample opportunities to the rural students, offering relevant subjects which can develop their practical knowledge. The college has NSS unit of 100 students. Students participate in various social activities such as survey and rallies. The college has started UGC-NRC Centre, Remedial Coaching Classes for SC/ST/OBC students, Career Counseling Cell, Gandhian Study Centre and Human Rights Education certificate course from UGC.

The college publishes magazine Kayadhu offering opportunities to the students to express their views and improve their writing skills. Further various programs are organized for the skill development of the students. Further, for the development of communication skills, the students are exposed to debate, group discussion, seminars and tutorials etc. To have an interaction with outside world to keep our students abreast with the latest knowledge, the college has organized seminars and workshops in the college.

The faculty regularly updates their knowledge and skills by attending / participating/ organizing workshops, conferences, orientation, refresher courses etc. Two faculty members have been completed their Minor Research Projects from UGC.

Hence, the college is putting efforts to develop the personality of students and empower them through the quality education. College is providing learning opportunities to empower students with the knowledge, skills and attitudes to face personal and professional challenges with confidence, including values of scientific temperament; commitment and respect for others thereby enabling to make a healthy and positive contribution to the society in 21st century.
