English Department

The Department of English has been initiated in 1998 with the beginning of English as compulsory subject and optional English offering language and literature as its specialization. It comprises only single faculty i.e. Arts. The commerce faculty has been introduced in the year 2020-2021. The department has actively engaged in the process of teaching, learning and evaluation since its commencement. It has been and being always striving to increase the level of quality education undertaking various kinds of curricular and co-curricular activities for the students. It believes in high performance and quality standards in pursuing the higher education and often forwarded its steps in this regard. Apart from the regular teaching-learning, it also attempts to develop the four basic LSRW skills through English Language Laboratory.

  • To create awareness to preserve endangered dialects of the native language of tribal and other related community in this area.

Strength

Weaknesses

  • No tie up with other institution, space and time limitations to fulfill the planning.
  • Lack of P.G. course in English.
  • A poor standard of rural students join the department and inadequate communication skills.

  • In smaller group of students 'one to one' interaction is possible and teacher can guide and encourage students.
  • English being a language essential for employment, so students are keen to choose English literature.
